AIRPORT

Vienna's Airport is where the coming and going
usually takes place. Inside the building Nicholas Sylvian
gets shot on a terrorist attack (Voice of our Shadow)
and Walker Easterling discovers his supernatural abilities for
the first time (Sleeping in Flame). |

As [Nicholas] was checking in, an old Mercedes
pulled up to one of the doors on the upper level of the airport.
Several Arabs with submachine guns and hand grenades got out
and ran into the building. (Sleeping in Flame) |

Fanny was sniffing the air like a setter. "What
does it smell like here? I can't figure it out?"
The weather was clear blue, sunny and cool. An airplane rumbled
through its take-off above us.
"It smells like grass. It smells like lawns."
"That's right! How strange. When was the last time you were
in an airport that smelled green?" (Outside

Paul had been to the Airport the day before and
described the passengers disembarking from a charter flight from
New York. He said he could immediately tell who was who. (Voice of our Shadow) |

I descended the stairs slowly, holding the rail
for support. There was an overhang in front of me, so I'd counted
fifteen steps before the windows began to come in view. I went
down two more before noticing the woman passing me on the right,
moving fast down the metal steps of the escalator. (...)
She suddenly stumbled and fell face forward onto the sharp edge
